Linseed is an EMDR & General Therapy Practice run by Michelle Doorbar.
EMDR is one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for emotional distress, addiction, grief, and physical or psychological trauma.
What is it?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychological therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to enable deep memory processing.
Outcomes
EMDR often has shorter treatment times than traditional talk therapy and can improve quality of life without extensive storytelling. Recall memories rather than reliving them.
Who is it for?
It has been proven effective for experiences such as emotional distress, addiction, grief, physical or psychological trauma, and pain management.
About your therapist.
I have been a therapist for over 20 years, working in both outpatient mental health and addiction services before moving into private practice in 2016. Since then, my work has focused on sexual abuse and complex trauma.
I am currently an EMDR Case Consultant-in-Training and continue to develop my skills and knowledge through ongoing learning and professional development.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important part of our work together. I aim to offer a steady, non-judgmental space where you can talk about difficult experiences, including things that may feel painful, confusing, or hard to put into words. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. We can work through things at a pace that feels manageable for you.
-
Sessions are structured into three steps and are designed to work compeltly through one target issue at a time.
You can add sessions to work on more targets, at your own pace. You do not need to do everything at once. You can return over time.
Evidence shows that gains made with EMDR stabilise and may improve over the 6 and 12 months post EMDR.
-
Step one:
1-3 × 50-minute sessions ($180.00 per session).
We meet and discuss the issues you would like to work on - this is the history taking, assessment and treatment planning stage.
The number of sessions required will vary depending on the issues you wish to work on, your background and the preparation required. Once we have an understanding of these we plan your treatment and prepare for processing with EMDR.
-
1-3 × 3 hour sessions ($540.00 per 3 hour session).
When the groundwork is in place, we move into these intensive EMDR sessions of up to three hours per session.
Using EMDR, you process one identified target at a time. We aim to complete one full target during one 3 hour session. We aim to complete one full target during one 3 hour session. This is not always possible, and an additional session may be required.
-
1-3 × 50 minute ssessions.
We assess the work completed in Stage Two, and plan from here.
Here you also consolidate progress and embed changes.
You may choose to address additional themes or continue into broader developmental trauma work.
Therapy concludes when you decide. When your goals feel met and a greater sense of stability and self-trust has developed. The number of sessions here may depend on if you would like to address further issues, or complete therapy for now. You can return at any time to work on further targets.

Please note: I am not currently accepting ACC clients for general counselling or ongoing therapy. I only accept ACC referrals for adjunct EMDR therapy, where a client’s existing therapist refers them to me specifically for EMDR treatment. The client continues to see their usual therapist for all other therapeutic support.
