Who Am I

With over twenty years of experience, I bring a calm and steady approach. I can hold difficult material without judgement or reaction. I understand there are many experiences that bring us to our current place in life. That life is complex and multilayered. My passion is in helping empower people to move through challenges and live a life of their choosing. It is an honour to work with people in this way and to see them thrive.

I spent over a decade working in outpatient mental health and addiction services before moving into private practice, where I've spent the past ten years specialising in sexual trauma. In 2019, I qualified as an EMDR therapist and have since trained further to specialise in using EMDR for complex trauma.

EMDR is a client led approach that allows the mind to process experiences that were once distressing or overwhelming, without the therapist imposing interpretations or meaning. My role is to facilitate this process through carefully structured and collaborative work. You remain in control; the work is done in your mind, and we can stop anytime you want.

My Qualificatiions

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Health Science – focus in Addiction

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Health Science – focus in Addiction

  • EMDR Accredited practitioner, Consultant in training.

About EMDR

A little more detail about EMDR and what it may help with.

Our Process

1 - 3 50 minute sessions. I meet, and you consider if I am someone you can work with; if not, there is no charge. If you know what you would like to work on, we will discuss this. We will discuss some aspects of your history and current day. We will discuss a possible course of treatment, and you decide what you would like to do - we plan your treatment. We prepare for Stage Two - EMDR. You may benefit from learning some stabilisation skills and learning more about EMDR.

Step One

1- 3 × 3 hour sessions. With our target identified, we will begin using EMDR to process this. We may aim to complete one target per 3 hour session. This may not always be possible, in which case, we would need to consider continuing on another day.

Step Two

1 - 3 × 50 minute sessions: We reassess the EMDR work completed. Integrating further changes as required. You consider if you would like to access further sessions, or if you feel you have made sufficient positive change, you may decide to complete therapy at this point.
